Interview with John Fairfax from 1969

John Fairfax is perhaps one of the most outstanding personalities which I have come across and definitely one of the most illustre personalities in the ocean rowing scene.

This interview with him was made shortly after he beach his boat, Britannia, on a beach in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, after making his way in the books of history as the first human to single-handedly row across the Atlantic Ocean.

A feat, at that time considered so extraordinary that even the Apollo 11 team complimented him on this from outer space on their way to the moon!

If you want to learn more about him, check out his profile on the Ocean Rowing Society’s Homepage.
